Dino Williams netted a brace as Montego Bay United’s 2-0 win at Wespow Park condemned struggling Harbour View to a second loss in four days in the lone Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) fixture on Sunday.
In the rescheduled match, Williams gave the home team the lead just 12 minutes into the encounter and ensured the points stayed in the West after popping up to score again in the 76th minute.
The result for the Stars of the East came on the back of a 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened Sandals South Coast on Thursday and left them in eighth place on 30 points. The win for Montego Bay United, on the other hand, saw them leapfrog their opponents moving from 10th place to 7th and a point above Harbour View on 31.
With a further eight matches remaining in the preliminary round, Portmore United are leading the standings with 53 points, nine clear of second-place and defending champions Arnett Gardens, who have two games in hand. Sandals South Coast, who are on 19, and Boys’ Town on 14 are the teams currently stuck in the relegation zone.
