Irie Jam Radio along with Courts Furniture Inc. had an evening of acoustic music to celebrate Bob Marley’s 73rd birth anniversary. It was a chilly 30 degrees outside but that didn’t deter reggae music fans from making their way down to S.O.B’s.
Pey Dalid was the first band to take the stage and they set the tone for the evening by doing some covers of Bob Marley’s biggest hits such as “No Woman No cry” “Buffalo soldier” and “Coming in from the cold”. The Jewish band formed by three brothers Mordechai, Shlomo & Pesach got a warm reception from the crowd with several persons singing along.
The DJ lineup was just as impressive as the acts who performed. The Road International team were in the house in full force, Jabba & Bobby Konders from Massive B sounds, Dj Gravy & Dj Gringo provided the shellings at various intervals through the night.
The beautiful and talented Arita provided a soulful performance backed up by her talented band. Her performance was in paradox to Grammy weekend when an energetic performance was given at BB Kings. The comparison in the different performance styles suited teh respective occasions and as such speaks well to the versatility of Arita as an artiste. We look forward to big things from Arita.
Dre Island started his performance by paying homage to the legend Bob Marley by doing a couple covers in his own original style backed up by three beautiful young ladies with soulful voices. Starting off his performance sitting on a stool wearing a dark jacket and matching shades, Dre Island belted out the legendary lyrics as every phone was pointed towards the stage to capture every moment.
‘We Pray” caused the crowd to go into an uproar when the guitars started strumming the melody to the smash hit written and produced by Dre Island and featuring dancehall superstar Popcaan.
Look out for the full show on our Irie Jam App soon…
