A tragedy out at sea has left one man dead, five injured and three missing.
Police said the men were on board two fishing boats which collided off Los Iros Beach, Erin, on Tuesday night.
Reports stated that one of the vessels had stopped at sea as fishermen retrieved a fishing net when another boat crashed into them at around 8.20pm.
Police said the men were thrown overboard.
The body of Sheldon Guerra, 40, was pulled from the water. His colleague, 35-year-old Joel Seerattan and four other men were injured and taken to the Siparia Health Facility.
Seerattan, of St Francis Village, Erin was transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
Guerra lived at Carapal Road, Erin. His body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre.
Police said further information revealed that three men were thrown overboard and had not resurfaced.
The T&T Coast Guard was contacted and searches are now under way.
