BARBADOS OPPOSITION PROTESTS AGAINST THE PM

The Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) will stage a protest against the Prime Minister and ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP).

Titled “A National March of Disgust and Rally”, BLP party leader Mia Mottley, says the event is in effort to let Prime Minister Freundel Stuart know that “enough is enough”. Speaking at a press conference yesterday,

Mottley accused Stuart of presiding over a dysfunctional government that is “entirely disconnected from and unconcerned with the affairs of State” and that the Prime Minister has repeatedly proven that he is thoroughly unfit to continue as the political leader of Barbados.

She said “Barbados cannot bear the weight of the indifference and the incompetence of Freundel Stuart and his Cabinet for another 12 months.”

The BLP leader first took issue with the Prime Minister taking a trip to the U.S., during which she calls “a time of great uncertainty”.  She then accused the Government of not being able to meet its financial commitments this month, particularly the payment of wages and salaries.

The protest and rally is calling upon all civic-minded Barbadians with concerns such as the economy, potholes, hospitals, and water, to join the March to express their disgust and send a message to the Government of Barbados.

The National March of Disgust and Rally will be held Saturday, March 11.
