The New York Times has listed Kingston Jamaica, as one of the “Best Places to Go in 2017”.

Yesterday an article in the U.S. leading newspaper placed Jamaica’s capital at number 24 out of its top 52 destinations.

The article recognizes Kingston for being the heart of Jamaica’s cultural offerings, and points to the dub club music parties, the new One World Rocksteady Music Festival, and the newly opened Peter Tosh Museum as top things to do.

It also names Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records and Patra’s Chateau 7 Gourmet Jerk Centre as must-go places to eat, and Courtyard by Marriott and Spanish Court Hotels as best places to stay.

Kingston, Jamaica being recognized by the New York times as one of the “Best Places to Go in 2017”, comes almost 1 year after it was named a UNESCO Creative City of Music.

In March of last year the New York Times featured an article entitled “Jamaica Beyond the Beach”, which profiled how the country is “recasting itself as a glamour and eco-tourism destination”.

Director of Tourism, Paul Penniock, told the Jamaica Observer that he’s “beaming with pride that Kingston is recognized by such a respected publication”.
