Burchell Finishes 2nd in Paris

Remona Burchell, the fastest woman in the Caribbean over 60 metres so far this indoor season, finished second in the short sprint at the Meeting de Paris on Wednesday.

Burchell, a two-time NCAA indoor champion, clocked 7.14s to finish a shade to winner Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast who crossed the line in a season’s best 7.12s. Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambunji was a further hundredth of a second behind.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith was fourth in 7.20s.

Burchell had won her qualifying heat in 7.16, the fastest time going into the final. Ta Lou was second in that heat in 7.19.

The Jamaican speedster won the 60m dash at the Meeting de Mondeville in France on Saturday in a season’s best 7.13.
