GUYANA HOSTS REGIONAL TABLE TEEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Guyana will host the 58th annual Caribbean Cadet and Junior Table Tennis Championships next month.
Scheduled to be held over Easter weekend April 1318 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has confirmed 8 regional teams for the event.
Participating teams include host Guyana, Aruba, Barbados, the Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Jamaica, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago.
The Cadet and Junior Championship will see players in 2 age categories, 15 and under, and 18 and under. Each team will be made up of 4 girls and 4 boys in each age group, plus 4 coaches and 1 delegate. Events to be contested in the respective age groups are Boys and Girls Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
The regional Table Tennis Championships will be the qualifier for the Pan American Junior and Cadet Championships scheduled for September in the U.S.
The top 4 Caribbean teams will join 4 others from Central America, and 4 from South America at the Pan American competition.
Last year, Guyana’s junior team earned a silver medal in a 3way tie between then host and winners, Dominican Republic and Trinidad & Tobago.
