Haiti’s national football team has advanced to the CONCACAF Gold Cup Playoffs.

Last week Haiti defeated Trinidad & Tobago 5-1 and Suriname 4-2, to secure 5th place in the CFU Caribbean Cup playoffs.

With the wins, Haiti knocked of Jamaica for the top spot in the The Caribbean Football Union (CFU), and solidified its place in the CONCACAF top-five behind Costa Rica, Mexico, the U.S., and Panama.

Haiti will next face off against the 5th placed team from Central America – which will be determined later this month, in a two-legged playoff for the final spot at the CONCACAF Gold Cup to be held this summer.

The team has been on a constant surge since ending 2016 at #1 in the region in the final FIFA World Rankings. Published yesterday, Haiti is ranked 69th overall and remains at the top of the Caribbean Region, followed by Curacao, Jamaica, T&T, and St. Kitts & Nevis to round out the top 5.
