The Bahamas is finalizing preparations for the upcoming IAAF World Relays.

To be held at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau from April 22-23rd, the event is set to be the biggest edition of the event thus far with more than 700 athletes from 42 countries competing to win the coveted Golden Baton.

7 of the competing nations are making their IAAF World Relays debut – which includes The Democratic Republic of Congo. Gambia, Ghana, and South Africa.

The IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2017 program will consist of 5 events over four relay disciplines for both men and women – the 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m and 4x800m. There will also be a mixed gender 4x400m event.

The top eight finishers in the 4x100m and 4x400m will be guaranteed qualification for the 4x100m and 4x400m relays at the IAAF World Championships held in London in August.

Local organizers expect 30,000 spectators but the A. Robinson National Stadium only has a seating capacity of 15,000.
